Galle is a city on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. It’s known for Galle Fort, the fortified old city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. The best months to travel to Galle are between December to April, as there is little rain so it is relatively dry during these months. However, throughout the year, even during the monsoon months of May to September, there is much to see and do here.
Unawatuna Beach
This is the most famous beach in Galle, and for good reason! It's perfect if you are looking for restaurants, bars, water sports and swimming. There are also plenty of sunbeds across the beach, but if you'd prefer to just lay a towel down then that's easy too.

igiriya is famous for it's palace ruins on top of a massive 200 meter high rock surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs and other structures. The rock itself is a lava plug left over from an ancient long extinct volcano.
Surrounding the Sigiriya Rock Fortress are some beautiful gardens, water gardens, boulder gardens filled with beautiful flowers, fountains and other sculptures. It's definitely worth packing some snacks and wandering among the area after you've visited the top of Sigiriya Rock fortress
Trincomalee city is home to the famous Koneswaram temple from where it developed and earned its historic Tamil name Thirukonamalai. Mannar is known for its baobab trees and for its fort, built by the Portuguese in 1560 and taken by the Dutch in 1658 and rebuilt; its ramparts and bastions are intact, though the interior is largely destroyed. Visually, the modern town is dominated by its churches, Hindu temples and mosques.
